The estate
Located in the heart of the Mâconnais, the ROCHEBIN estate is situated at an altitude of 450m on a hill overlooking the Saône plain, close to Azé, a village known for its prehistoric caves. The estate was established in 1921, but it has only been exclusively devoted to vine-growing since 1972. Jean-Pierre MARILLIER, who represents the third generation in the estate, passed the reins to his son Mickaël in 1991. Mickaël now runs the 55 hectares of vineyards together with his wife Marie-Pierre and Laurent Chardigny, who is in charge of winemaking since 2008.
The vines, which are mostly the former property of the Abbey of Cluny are managed using responsible farming methods, with grass cover. The diversity of the soils allows the estate to produce the four main grape varieties of Burgundy: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté and Gamay.
