Domaine des FERAUD is situated in Vidauban, in the heart of the Côtes de Provence wine region, just 30 km from Saint-Tropez. This region is reputed for its rosé wines although the terroir also offers ideal conditions for the production of red wines with strong personalities.
Markus Conrad was never predestined to become a winemaker. The young German was an accomplished trumpeter and economics student. He headed up Europe's leading chain of coffee retailers and cafés for 11 years before setting up a company specialising in wholesale book distribution. Eighteen years later, his passion for French wines got the better of him and his dream of becoming a neo-vigneron turned into a reality at the age of 50. The businessman scoured the Saint-Tropez countryside for two years in search of a wine domaine with an exceptional terroir before eventually settling on Domaine des Féraud in Vidauban.
Markus Conrad then set about converting the 50 hectares of vines to organic, and then biodynamic, growing. Aware of the scale of the task, he wasted no time in asking for advice and seeking a number of different opinions. Six years after purchasing Domaine des Féraud, the neo-vigneron's dream project finally saw the light of day. The original buildings were restored and a new winery store opened its doors in 2017.
