The estate
In 1979, Bruno CLAIR created the estate that bears his name in Marsannay-la Côte, in the North of the Côte de Nuits. A few plots in Marsannay, Fixin, Savigny-les-Beaune and Morey-Saint-Denis then formed most of the new estate, which then progressively grew: first in 1986, through the addition of part of the vineyards - including plots on the Clos de Bèze, Cazetiers, Clos du Fonteny, Clos Saint-Jacques, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny appellations - of the famous Clair-Daü estate founded in 1919 by Joseph Clair, Bruno's grand-father. New vineyards were added to the estate in 1993 (Corton-Charlemagne, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton) and 1996 (Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle). The estate now comprises of more than 23 hectares of vineyards, all using sustainable agricultural methods and harvested by hand. Bruno Clair creates dense, fine and complex wines, ideal for laying down for a long period of time. He is one of the standard bearers of the traditional Burgundy style.
