A former winemaker of the famous Verget Company, which he started with Jean-Marie Guffens, Jean Rijckaert and his wife Régine founded their own estate in 1998 in the small village of Leynes, in the extreme south of the Mâconnais, in the hilliest area of the Burgundy wine region. The Rijckaert estate comprises of 9.5 hectares among which 4 hectares are around Mâcon within the Viré-Clessé, Mâcon-Lugny and Saint-Véran appellations, and 5.5 hectares in the Jura within the Côtes du Jura and Arbois appellations. Jean Rijckaert, a talented winemaker and Chardonnay specialist, manages the estate with passion and uses sustainable agricultural methods that respect the soils. The work in the vineyard and in the cellar is both demanding and rigorous. Mâconnais whites offer minerality and high purity. The maturing process, which usually avoids using new wood casks, is intended to glorify the grapes and the wine. Jura wines are among the most authentic of the vintage, harmoniously combining elegance and distinction.
