The estate
Domaine La Soufrandière is located in Vinzelles in the Mâconnais region of Southern Burgundy. It was acquired, with its one hectare in Pouilly-Vinzelles, by Jules BRET in 1947. His 3 grandsons, Jean-Philippe, Jean-Guillaume and Marc-Antoine, grew up in the Paris region but had fond memories of childhood holidays spent at their grandparents in Burgundy. In 2000 "The BRET brothers" set up a partnership to take over and develop the wine domaine. This was the start of a shared story, one of high quality and an ambition to propel the domaine to the top of the Mâconnais pyramid. They decided that they would go down the organic and biodynamic agriculture route. Domaine La Soufrandière works 11ha of vines in several Mâconnais appellations, including Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Vinzelles, Mâcon-Vinzelles, Viré-Clessé and Saint-Veran. All the vineyards are very well situated, east and southeast, in the middle or at the top of the slopes, which are composed of limestone and very red clay soils. Yields are limited (about 40 hl / ha) by natural practices such as disbudding. The BRET brothers strive to extract the quintessence of the Mâconnais terroirs from their vines.
