In 2001, the 3 Bret brothers, Jean-Philippe, Jean-Guillaume and Marc-Antoine launched a wine trading business under the "BRET BROTHERS" name in Vinzelles, Southern Burgundy. Through this business, they aim to offer a wide range of Mâconnais terroirs in addition to the wines from the family's "La Soufrandière" estate. They promote the rich diversity of the Mâconnais region, by vinifying very specific "climats". Today, "Bret Brothers" production is around 70,000 bottles a year. Nearly two-thirds of the grapes purchased are organic, but the idea in the long run is to expand the domaine's vineyards to reduce the share represented by the trading activity, so that the latter becomes 100% organic. Meanwhile, they themselves carry out the harvesting work in the vineyards of the wine growers from whom they buy the grapes. This gives them better control over the final product and real traceability for the consumer for whom organic wine is no longer just a niche or a fad, but meets a real need.
