The estate
Domaine de L'ABBAYE DU PETIT QUINCY is situated in Epineuil, in the Tonnerrois vineyards, in the north of Burgundy. It is set up in the wine cellar of the former Cistercian Abbey of Quincy. The vines were cultivated by the monks until the 16th century, then by wine growers until the French Revolution. Sold in 1792 as a state-owned building, the domaine conserved its winemaking tradition until 1914. After 76 years of inactivity, the cellar began making wine again in 1990, due to the initiative of Dominique Gruhier who now presides over 28 hectares of vineyards, planted in the best climats in the Epineuil and Chablis areas. For 20 years, Dominique Gruhier has worked to improve quality: ploughing, maintaining grass cover, controlled yields, optimal maturity... The vineyards, cultivated using sustainable growing methods for several years, have been certified organic since 2015. The domaine is known, above all, for its red Epineuil wines but it also produces a range of Chablis wines and Crémants de Bourgogne sparkling wines.
